An exception to falling traffic deaths 08/19/2008
One of the more beneficial side effects of a slowing economy and rising gas prices is a decrease in traffic fatalities. Last year traffic deaths fell to 41,059, the lowest since 1994, and the fatality rate - 1.37 deaths per 100 million miles - was the lowest ever, according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.
